Kitsap Transit adds Fleetwatch, Fleetwatch/TransitFleet interface functions

Kitsap Transit has been implementing the Fleetwatch fuel management system in stages and new functions were added in December, 2014. TransitFleet was implemented in October 2012 with an automated fueling interface to capture Fleetwatch transactions. Initially Fleetwatch was implemented for daily servicing and fuelers manually entered mileages. Fleetwatch remote island heads were installed in maintenance bays and transactions captured were posted directly to work orders. For this latest stage KT is adding (a) Fleetwatch JX55 data loggers on one fleet of vehicles so the vehicle is automatically identified and mileages are captured without manual entry, (b) a remote island head at its foot ferry dock to capture fueling of KT's foot ferries, and (c) a remote island head for fueling of propane vehicles.

Denton County Transportation Authority implements TransitFleet Shop Floor, Mobile Inventory, Fleetwatch interface

Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) implemented the TransitFleet paperless shop floor and mobile inventory modules in production use. DCTA mechanics use a laptop on the shop floor to clock on and off work orders and road calls and enter notes on work performed. Mechanics also use the Intermec CK3 mobile computer to enter parts issues on work orders as they take parts from the storeroom. DCTA also has the automated fueling interface with the Fleetwatch fuel management system. All vehicles have JX55 data loggers so the fueler just enters his badge number to activate the pump and all other data (vehicle, which fuel or fluid, amount of fuel or fluid, and mileage) is automatically captured.

Introducing TransitFleet paperless shop floor module

The TransitFleet paperless shop floor module eliminates paper work orders by allowing mechanics / technicians to do everything normally recorded on a paper work order directly on a workstation or laptop on the shop floor. Mechanics log on to receive assignments, clock on and off work orders, move from one assignment to another, document work performed, and to clock on and off an interruption for a road call or another work order. They can also access PM checklists and check that required PM steps have been completed, enter fluids issued, and enter tire measures, Mechanics can look up vehicle histories, search the inventory for information about parts, and look up parts usage histories on the shop floor. Mechanics can also submit work requests for follow on work they reommend to be done. The paperless shop floor module is easy for a mechanic / technician to access and understandable to use so more and better information is captured than with a paper work order system.

Introducing TransitFleet mobile inventory module

The TransitFleet mobile inventory module gives storeroom personnel the ability to issue parts on work orders, process receivings, and enter physical inventory counts using mobile computers rather than entering transactions on paper forms for data entry on a standard computer workstation. The mobile computer used for inventory functions is a wireless handheld device with full alphanumeric and numeric keypads, color display touchscreen with stylus, and barcode and image scanning capabilities. It functions as both a computer workstation and a scanner. Since it is a computer workstation, data entry is real time and edits are performed as they would be for data entry on a desktop computer.
